How Enzymes Work in the Treatment
of Inflammation
and Autoimmune Diseases
People want
to get better and if possible, live a longer happier life. But with
modern lifestyle and environment this proves to be quite a
challenge. Diseases increased in number as people became too
dependent on technology and enamored with modernization. Most
people's solution to fight off these diseases is to create more
synthetic drugs and high-tech medical gadgetry and devices.
People are
looking for ways to really get better. Thus, there are few who
sought to rediscover the natural approaches in curing diseases.
Nowadays, more and more people are looking for natural remedies in
the treatment of various conditions. Although conventional drugs
generally provide relief, albeit temporary, from the pains and
symptoms of diseases, more often than not there are also long term
side effects.
One remedy
that is chiefly derived from nature is enzyme therapy. For decades,
enzyme therapy has been widely used clinically in various places all
over the world, particularly in Germany, Central Europe, and in
Japan.
The
practical use of enzymes in treating certain diseases is based on
the knowledge that enzymes are basically responsible for providing
life in every organism. The various enzymes within an organism is
known to perform specific tasks. However, there are certain
incidents wherein certain enzymes are lacking or are produced
insufficiently and thus resulting to imbalances and eventually
diseases. Thus, it seems logical that by introducing these essential
enzymes into the body, the body will then be capable of healing
itself.
For
example, there are instances wherein the production and distribution
of the digestive enzymes in the body are disrupted, resulting to the
body's insufficient capacity to digest essential dietary nutrients.
This then may result to various disorders, malnutrition, or colon
toxicity. One way to treat this condition is by introducing
digestive enzymes such as lipase to the body.
Also, there
are times when the body's immune system goes into overdrive and
attack healthy cells as well. Inflammation is the body's instinctive
and initial reaction to fight off invading organisms, faulty cells,
and trauma. However, there are certain cases wherein the body's
immune system loses its ability to identify the good and functional
cells from the abnormal ones and potentially dangerous substances.
This then results to autoimmune diseases and several others.
In such
cases, steroidal and non-steroidal drugs are used to relieve the
swelling, and pain caused by the inflammation. However, these drugs
only provide temporary relief and may have long-term side effects.
One proteolytic enzyme that is prominently used to efficiently help
with the pain and inflammation is serrapeptase.
Serrapeptase is derived from the substance found in the intestines
of silkworms and is responsible for breaking down their cocoons. In
like manner, serrapeptase is capable of breaking down dead cells
without affecting the healthy cells. It also has the ability to
inhibit the release of pain inducing amines from inflamed tissues.
And for years that it has been clinically used as a pain reliever
and anti-inflammatory remedy, there have been no known side effects.
